Get a guide dog

Are you interested in a dog assistant?

Contact us and arrange a personal meeting. It’s not a quick process and there will be some waiting list, but we’ll do our best to help as quickly as we can.

At the first meeting we talk about what the person needs help with and what support we can offer them. When we agree on these points, cooperation and social work begins at the same time.

The applicant has the opportunity to get to know other employees and the style of working with clients and dogs on regular training days, which we organize once a month on weekends. The applicant signs a contract with a social worker for the provision of social services and becomes our client.

We create a profile of the client and an  individual plan so that we and the client know what we are heading for together and what the cooperation will look like.

When the social worker has enough information about the client, his needs and lifestyle, the training leader, Irina Stolimova, starts to choose a suitable dog. In Medical Assistance Dogs we always choose a specific dog for a specific client. The trainers train the selected dog according to the client's needs.

We prepare the client for life with an assistance dog.  The client participates in training days and summer or autumn reconditioning stay. Here they learn to work with their future partner under the guidance of coaches so that their cooperation is effective and loving. When they are both ready, the trainer passes the exam with the dog and then the handover to the client takes place. During the handover, everything important is practiced at the client's home. But that doesn't end there.

We monitor the progress closely.

The client still needs support from the trainers after handing over the trained dog. So they still go for training days and during the reconditioning stay they pass the exam with the dog under the supervision of the judge. It is varied for clients throughout the life of the assistance dog, but also after it.

We also help clients in other matters , even those that do not concern the dog. We can advise on obtaining compensatory aids or other social services. For example, we provide support in dealing with authorities, etc. In short, we help the client with what he needs.

Varied dog assistance provides a free social rehabilitation service for people with disabilities  . Our goal is to make a person with a disability more self-sufficient thanks to his dog partner, as little dependent as possible on the help of another person, to develop his skills and to have a varied life.
